There seems to be a tendency among general people that Tamils brag about how they already know about a scientific concept which was only recently discovered. A classic example would be the finding that atoms can be split. Tamils claimed that they knew this from ancient times and quoted relevant texts. But until unless the new discovery is made, Tamils don't come forward and make a claim. This question is more towards finding out such higher sciences yet to be proved in today's world. Yet, it is also okay to post the ones already discovered with relevant sources.
Wootz is the anglicized version of ukku, a term denoting steel. The steel exported to Europe, China, the Arab world and the Middle East.
Though an ancient material, wootz steel also fulfills the description of an advanced material, since it is an ultra-high carbon steel exhibiting properties such as superplasticity and high impact hardness and held sway over a millennium in three continents- a feat unlikely to be surpassed by advanced materials of the current era. A research team in Germany published a report in 2006 revealing nanowires and carbon nanotubes in a blade forged from Damascus steel which gave rise to some of its extraordinary properties.

The women in the families were required to be kept in quarantine for three days in order to prevent infection (as menstrualtual discharge had some toxic substances) and also to give the women the much needed rest during the period.
This seems like a regressive thought that our ancestors suffered from, but our ancestors kept in mind the discomfort and trouble that a woman goes through while menstruating, suffering from cramps and exhaustion.
